How to set up an affiliate site using xsitepro

If you are interested in the concept of affiliate marketing, xsitepro is the perfect partner for doing that.

Recently the launch of "Day Job Killer" prompted me to set up a website for affiliate promotion. Having already done an affiliate campaign several times before, making a website like www.dayjobkillerexposed.com was quite easy. I am going to show tell you how I did it.

The basic steps involved in setting up an affiliate website look like this:

1. Decide on a product

(You should actually start by looking for a hungry market first, however in this case Day Job Killer was an obvious choice as a solution to the massive affiliate market. The prior program released by Chris Needham affiliate project x was a huge success selling more than 6000 copies in one week and was the main reason this website xsitepro-seo got so successful).

2. Register a domain name

Pick a name that has your keywords in it. In this example Day Job Killer are my keywords so I grabbed a slightly "sensational" addition to those words "exposed". The other common ones are "secrets" and  "review" etc....

There will always be a similar name to the original site that you can get if you keep looking.

If your keywords are un-hyphenated the search engine is rumoured to place more weight on the first word.

Point your domain name to your server settings if you know what they are.

3. Set up your hosting

Because I use a reseller account to house my several hundred domains, it is easy for me to create an account for the new domain. It takes about 1 minute. Set an appropriate bandwidth and capacity for your website.

4. Set up your email

I usually set up two email addresses for a new website. For example: bonuses or support , and the other for website submission or general use. This is easily done at the server and then installed into your mail system using pop3 (outlook).

5. Grab a template from my saved xsitepro templates

As you know,  I like to create my own templates for new projects. I pick one from my saved templates (from other projects) and convert it for the type of promotion I will be doing. For www.DayJobKillerExposed.com I made a header graphic using logocreator and then set the background colors.

I make the modifications I suggest in the XSP Cheat Sheet to the settings and the start getting ready for the next step..

6. keyword research

You can use free or paid tools for this here are some keyword tools.  (Remember to type your key phrase into google and see what your competition are doing with meta tags as well).

Then I name my pages and add the keywords to the meta descriptions in the SEO section of xsitepro.

7. Write the copy

Now I write the pages and use H1 H2 tags etc, and then I link the pages to keyword anchor text pages within the document. Copywriting is the hardest part for me, however the more you do it, the better you get.  Make it a bit fun and emotional, most importantly, be genuine (the author of DJK said he liked my website!).

8. Add the autoresponder

I use this autoresponder to collect names for my newsletter and also my bonus lists. (Very good delivery rates). I put the HTML snippet on my page and that is set to go.

9. Set Up the links and bonus details

Next, link to the product you are selling with your affiliate redirect (or cloak it with something like this cloaker) and put all your bonus details on a secret page. Remember to turn the robots OFF in your xsitepro "other" tab!

I store the bonus downloads at a remote website just to be safe.

10. publish

Publish the site and check everything

11. Verify and Submit your Google Sitemap / Analytics

Verify and submit your sitemap using the "other" tab, and install an analytics script in the snippets section of your code.

12. Promote your website!

This is the fun part. I have a checklist for this too, and I am refining it at the moment, I might add it to the XSP cheat sheet soon (past owners get lifetime updates).

Some examples would be:

  • posting a note about your site on a blog,
  • running a pay per click campaign,
  • getting links from other webmasters....

I only registered the domain name on the 30th of January,

and published the site on Feb 2nd.

Site was indexed in google by the 4th of Feb, (Just Two days)

(click on image to see bigger picture)

And indexed by Msn on the 8th Feb,

Here are the first few days results:

Over 1000 visits in 7 days

xsitepro helped me get 1000 visits in just a few days

(click on the image to see the stats)

Over 300 unique visits daily by the fith day

Close up

Next all you need to do is make running changes to  keep your site fresh in the market. Check your stats and see what keyword phrases are working and where the traffic is coming from. And spend your income.

Oh, and by the way,

I really do think Day Job Killer  is a MUST have resource for Internet Marketers!, It sold 5000 copies in the first few hours. I have a $347 BONUS offer as well!

(feedback from an XSP news subscriber)

"James,

I purchased the DJK from your affiliate link.  I also wanted you to know that I deliberately chose to buy it from you versus all the other 'gurus' who sent me the link and suggested I purchase it because of your great assistance with xsitepro information.

Have a great day and hopefully, soon, I'll be able to quite 'my' day job...  you may use as a testimonial if you wish...

Thanks for the bonuses.

Kind Regards,

Cherise G"
